How we label allergens
We check every recipe against the 9 major food allergens named by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration: milk, eggs, fish, crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, soybeans and sesame (FDA: food allergies).
- We say “made without eggs” or “made without gluten-containing ingredients”. We never say “allergen-free”.
- Gluten-free recipes call for flours and oats labelled gluten-free. FDA explains what that label means on packaged food (FDA: gluten-free labeling).
- Swap options (such as a dairy-free butter) are listed with each recipe.
Cross-contact
Even a recipe made without an allergen can pick it up from shared bowls, pans, counters, fryer oil or ingredients made on shared lines. Read every label, every time, and clean tools and surfaces before you start.
Recipes are made without the listed ingredients, but we cannot promise any recipe is free of allergens. Ingredients and kitchens vary and cross-contact can happen. Always read labels and follow your doctor's advice. This site does not give medical advice.
